Winter Wonderland

Today, November 24th, 2004, I had my very first Chicago snow. I was SO exited!!! Ok, so it was more like rain/snow/slush during the day, and my pant cuffs got really wet and dirty, but by midnight, there's about 2.5 inches of snow on the ground. We're not talking cheesy sleet/icy rain like we get in Dallas, it was massive amounts of white flakes, FLAKES, pouring down to earth. I was running around like a child outside church after the smallgroup Thanksgiving potluck. Few people shared my excitement. I guess if you're born and raised in Chicago, snow is more of a hassle than a weather phenomenon.
Perhaps I'll be jaded and tired of it after a month of so of this just like everyone else, but right now, I'm really enjoying the sights. There's just something really really romantic about snow fall.

ORD-DFW-MDW

2 weekends ago I flew back to Dallas for the first time since I moved here. The moment I got off the plane, there was a strange feeling. It didn't feel like I was "coming home." Rather, it was like I had been away a long time, and I was finally visiting friends. At the same time, I was also strangely excited.

That feeling soon subsided as the wedding planning for Flo & Marcus quickily became an reality. It was nice to see everyone, but I wish I had some time to visit with them. By the end of the trip, I was sad to leave. One thing did become pretty apparent to me by the end of my trip. I needed to be where Bryan is. As fun as Chicago is (seems to me at the moment), it really isn't as fun if Bryan isn't here too. And as "ordinary" as Dallas can be (or seem to me), it's still great to have a person (and a doggie) to come home to.

Familiar Faces

It's been such a fun and yet exhausting weekend. I've had a slew of visitors from TX. Lillian is in town for training, and her mom came in over the weekend. So we had a full 2 days of shopping and eating. And then Winston called and made a last minute decision to join Liz & Pei here. So it was more eating w/ him, Liz & Pei. Christi finally got in late late late lastnight, and we'll all go out for dinner tonight. I haven't seen some of these guys since college. It's funny how somethings just don't change about people.

I love having visitors! Bry, Al & Lillian were here just a couple of weeks ago, and The Yees will be coming in 2 weeks. I love living in a city where there are "cool places" to show people.
