It was very smoky in there from the gas grills!

Thanks everyone for coming and being good sports about running around the city in heat + humidity. I'm glad to see that creativity can be forced out when pride/prize is on the line. Thanks for making it a memorable celebration for me!

Most of all, thanks dear hubbers for organizing and funding everything!

5th Anniversary of the 25th Birthday

"Now 30 is the new 21 or 22. It’s the threshold of becoming an adult." Edward Eveld writes in the The Kansas City Star. (September 21, 2003)

Indignant

Something SOOO disgusting happened to me this morning that I was THIS (imagine me gesturing "this" with my index finger and thumb) close to writing off the entire city of Chicago/urban dwelling and move back to the nice land of suburbia.

Ugh!!! It's so gross that I don't even want to talk about it here!

Ugh!!! What kind of people are you?!?!?!

I Just Saved the World!!

Ok, maybe just my block. I just had to call 911 because one of the power lines in my alley was on fire!!

When the fire truck came I was secretly really excited to see some "action," but it was kind of anti-climatic because they didn't have to bust out the big hose, just a small fire extinguisher. Still kinda cool. Gonna log that into "Chicago Experiences #153!"

This was the only picture I was able to snag with my phone. Sorry it's kinda small, but I wanted to stay out of the fire people's way. And I didnt know if anything was gonna BLOW UP because it all started from this very mysterious liquid dripping from the transformer box looking thing at the top of the pole. Anyway, you can see the smoke if you really concentrate.

Argh!!!!!! There was a loud BOOM! And I just lost power. I'm sure due to the damage from the lovely fire. Luckily I've been trained to "save my work" and my laptop is not plugged in. I am having to dial-up now with my Treo. Crap. Wonder how long it's gonna take Comed to fix this? I can't live without TV or Internet!!! And air conditioning.

Crosstown Classic--Round 2 (@ Wrigley), Game 1

Technically, it happened yesterday, but I'm still awake. So it's still the "same day" to me.

White Sox 6, Cubs 2. Lakeview Baseball Club is a REALLY nice rooftop. Nuff said.
